Hi everyone!
We had our very first session last night, and I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you.
We had a lovely group of 21 participants, and it was really nice getting to meet everyone, hear your thoughts, and connect through the films. I personally had a great time, and for those who joined, thank you for being present and open in the discussion.
(Attaching a little cute group photo from our session here)

On this month’s films
We had some really thoughtful conversations around The Perfect Neighbour, Black Box Diaries, and Honeyland — from questions of ethics and access, to storytelling and its structure, and the relationship between the filmmaker and their participants.Â
As mentioned during the session, I’m sharing a few articles and filmmaker Q&As below for those who might be interested in going a little deeper into the films and their making:
The Perfect Neighbor:Â
1. Q&A with Director Geeta Gandbhir
2. Behind the Cut: An Inside Look with Director Geeta Gandbhir and Editor Viridiana Lieberman
Black Box Diaries:Â
1. BFI Q&A with Director Shiori ItĂ´
2. Interview With "Black Box Diaries" Director/Producer Shiori ItĂ´
3. Editing a Quest for Justice and Healing in “Black Box Diaries”
Honeyland:Â
1. Q&A with Directors Tamara Kotevska and Ljubomir Stefanov
2. Q&A with main protagonist Hatidze Muratova
3. Article: "It's a Choice: To Be a Filmmaker or a Human"
Next Session
Our session for Apr will be:
30 April 2026 (Thursday)
8:00–10:00 PM (SGT)
*I'd like to have some consistency and keep the sessions on every last Monday of the month. Unfortunately I am unavailable on 27 Apr, so for April it will be on a Thursday instead.
Here are the films for the next session.
1. HyperNormalisation (2016)Â Available on Youtube
2. Grey Gardens (1975)Â Available on Youtube
3. The Remarkable Life of Ibelin (2024) Available on Netflix
The films selected are easy to find online, so I hope that you all have access to watch them.
The Zoom link will be shared closer to the date.Â

Once again, thanks for being a part of this. I’m excited to see how this grows, and to continue these conversations together with you all.
Wishing everyone a happy April!
With all my love,
Christine
